ASANA

ROOTED IN FOUNDATION; RISING TO THE OCCASION

Core 26

Core 26 is a beginner level class created for total body health, done in a room heated to 105 degrees.  This sequence was originally developed by Bikram Choudry, and it is part of a larger series of postures in the Bishnu Gosh lineage.  Core 26 works to increase strength and flexibility in joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and bones, while also providing a cardiovascular workout.  The spine and pelvis are targeted areas in all postures. This class is appropriate for people of all ages, body types, and levels of experience, including those with injuries who are looking to heal the body.

Hot Vinyasa Flow

A vinyasa class is a moving meditation. Synchronizing movement, internally and externally, with one's breath, the intention of the class is to place in a special way, one's body, breath, and being in an asana practice. A focus on the integrity of the breath, alignment, and proper modifications and variations are integral to each class so that a vinyasa practice can be accessible for a range of practitioners. Because it is not a one-size-fits-all practice, it is common for practitioners to be doing different expressions of an asana in a vinyasa class. Each class is intelligently sequenced so that each posture prepares the practitioner for the next.

Ashtanga | Non-Heated

Ashtanga is a system of asana practice introduced to the West by Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois.  In addition to a vigorous, heat-building warm up and fundamental standing postures, the Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa) is comprised of 56 asanas practiced in a particular order to produce effective opening in the tissues of the body as well as the substance of the mind. Feel free to check out additional information about this practice at: http://www.ashtangayoga.info/practice/

Restorative | Yin | Non-Heated

Restorative and yin yoga are practices designed to reduce the effects of chronic stress, lengthen connective tissues, induce a deep state of relaxation and healing, and restore your body's nervous system.  Typically, your body is supported with props and postures are held for several minutes at a time to create lasting changes.  Each class sequence will move your spine in all directions, massage your internal organs, and give you an opportunity to create space and stillness in both the body and the mind.  There are incredible physiological benefits to these practices, including improved flexibility, mobility, digestion, mood, immune system functioning, and sleep.  These classes are also designed to help you release habitual tension patterns so that you may think, feel, and behave more intentionally in your life.

Yoga Nidra

You don’t have to try to be aware, as in classic meditation. You are resting as awareness itself.

Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep, is a meditative practice. This class is designed to progressively empty the contents of the mind by moving down brainwave levels to encounter less and less thoughts. Using the body’s already known capability for sleep, yoga nidra drops us effortlessly down to these profoundly deep states of consciousness. It is here that elemental change, relaxation and peace can occur.

Prenatal Yoga

This class will incorporate elements of vinyasa yoga, kundalini yoga, breath work and mindfulness -- offering options that range from gentle to more challenging. Let's create space and build strength as we prepare the body and mind for labor and work towards a more comfortable pregnancy overall.
